The designers responsible for a virtual coin released by First Lady of the United States Melania Trump are now accused in federal papers of executing a fraudulent operation.

Initial Launch and Value Spike

The $MELANIA cryptocurrency were released for under a dollar each on January 19th, one day preceding Donald Trump took office.

Together with the Melania cryptocurrency, Trump himself introduced his $TRUMP coin just ahead of the inauguration ceremony.

Shortly after launch, the price of the $MELANIA coin skyrocketed to nearly $14 per unit.

Rapid Decline in Value

Nevertheless, the value then collapsed almost as quickly, and presently trades for approximately a dime – under 1% of its highest value.

Meanwhile, the $TRUMP coin achieved a maximum of $45.47 and currently exchanges for under six dollars.

Court Claims and Investors' Arguments

The investors assert that the coin's creators executed the operation conscious that the cryptocurrency's price would crash.

Mrs. Trump personally is not mentioned in the lawsuit. Claimants clarified they do not believe she was responsible, but charged the digital currency firms of exploiting her and other familiar faces as window dressing for their criminal operations.

Exchange Platform Involvement

In newly filed federal filings, plaintiffs allege executives of the Meteora cryptocurrency exchange, where the First Lady's token was originally listed, of creating a scheme that permitted them to discreetly acquire significant amounts of the cryptocurrency.

Associated individuals then quickly resold these virtual tokens, pocketing substantial profits while leading to the value to crash, per documents filed in Manhattan federal court.

Broader Context

The claims regarding $MELANIA have been included in legal proceedings involving multiple additional virtual tokens, which commenced in April.

The Trump organization has reportedly secured more than $1 billion in pre-tax earnings from various blockchain-associated ventures and firms over the last year.
