Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
